श्रीभगवानुवाच

अनाश्रितः कर्मफलं कार्यं कर्म करोति यः ।

स सन्न्यासी च योगी च न निरग्निर्न चाक्रियः ॥

śrī bhagavānuvāca

anāśritaḥ karmaphalaṅ kāryaṅ karma karōti yaḥ.

sa saṅnyāsī ca yōgī ca na niragnirna cākriyaḥ৷৷6.1৷৷

Meaning: Shri Bhagavan said – The man who does work worth doing without taking shelter of the fruits of his actions, is a sannyasin and a yogi and the one who renounces only fire is not a sannyasin and the one who renounces only actions is not a yogi ॥1॥

yaṅ saṅnyāsamiti prāhuryōgaṅ taṅ viddhi pāṇḍava.

na hyasaṅnyastasaṅkalpō yōgī bhavati kaścana৷৷6.2৷৷

Meaning: Hey Arjun! The one who is called sannyas (the detailed meaning of this is written in the commentary of Gita Chapter 3 Verse 3.) you know him as Yoga (the detailed meaning of this is written in the commentary of Gita Chapter 3 Verse 3.) No man is a yogi ॥2॥

आरुरुक्षोर्मुनेर्योगं कर्म कारणमुच्यते ।

योगारूढस्य तस्यैव शमः कारणमुच्यते ॥

ārurukṣōrmunēryōgaṅ karma kāraṇamucyatē.

yōgārūḍhasya tasyaiva śamaḥ kāraṇamucyatē৷৷6.3৷৷

Meaning: For a contemplative man who wishes to be established in yoga, it is said to be the reason for the attainment of yoga, and the absence of all the resolutions of that yogirudh man, after becoming a yogi, is called the reason for welfare.॥ 3॥

यदा हि नेन्द्रियार्थेषु न कर्मस्वनुषज्जते ।

सर्वसङ्‍कल्पसन्न्यासी योगारूढ़स्तदोच्यते ॥

yadā hi nēndriyārthēṣu na karmasvanuṣajjatē.

sarvasaṅkalpasaṅnyāsī yōgārūḍhastadōcyatē৷৷6.4৷৷

Meaning: In the period in which one is neither attached to the pleasures of the senses nor to the actions, in that period a man who has renounced all thoughts is called a yogi.॥4॥

आत्म-उद्धार की प्रेरणा और भगवत्प्राप्त पुरुष के लक्षण एवं एकांत साधना का महत्व

उद्धरेदात्मनाऽत्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत्‌ ।

आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः ॥

uddharēdātmanā৷৷tmānaṅ nātmānamavasādayēt.

ātmaiva hyātmanō bandhurātmaiva ripurātmanaḥ৷৷6.5৷৷

Meaning: Save yourself from the world-ocean through yourself and do not put yourself in degradation because this person is your friend and you are your enemy ॥5॥

बन्धुरात्मात्मनस्तस्य येनात्मैवात्मना जितः ।

अनात्मनस्तु शत्रुत्वे वर्तेतात्मैव शत्रुवत्‌ ॥

bandhurātmā৷৷tmanastasya yēnātmaivātmanā jitaḥ.

anātmanastu śatrutvē vartētātmaiva śatruvat৷৷6.6৷৷

Meaning: The soul by whom the body with mind and senses is conquered, that soul itself is a friend and by whom the body with mind and senses is not conquered, he himself behaves in enmity like an enemy.॥6 ॥

जितात्मनः प्रशान्तस्य परमात्मा समाहितः ।

शीतोष्णसुखदुःखेषु तथा मानापमानयोः ॥

jitātmanaḥ praśāntasya paramātmā samāhitaḥ.

śītōṣṇasukhaduḥkhēṣu tathā mānāpamānayōḥ৷৷6.7৷৷

Meaning: In the knowledge of such a man with an independent soul, in the knowledge of such a man with an independent soul, in the cold-heat, happiness-sorrow and honor and dishonor, there is nothing other than God in his knowledge. 7॥

ज्ञानविज्ञानतृप्तात्मा कूटस्थो विजितेन्द्रियः ।

युक्त इत्युच्यते योगी समलोष्टाश्मकांचनः ॥

jñānavijñānatṛptātmā kūṭasthō vijitēndriyaḥ.

yukta ityucyatē yōgī samalōṣṭāśmakāñcanaḥ৷৷6.8৷৷

Meaning: One whose inner self is satisfied with knowledge and science, whose condition is free from disorder, whose senses are fully alive and for whom clay, stone and gold are equal, he is said to be Yogi-yukt, that is, God-realised.॥8॥

सुहृन्मित्रार्युदासीनमध्यस्थद्वेष्यबन्धुषु ।

साधुष्वपि च पापेषु समबुद्धिर्विशिष्यते ॥

suhṛnmitrāryudāsīnamadhyasthadvēṣyabandhuṣu.

sādhuṣvapi ca pāpēṣu samabuddhirviśiṣyatē৷৷6.9৷৷

Meaning: Suhrud (selfishly doing good to everyone), friend, enemy, indifferent (non-partisan), mediator (seeking good on both sides), hater and friend, the one who has equal feelings in the righteous and sinners is the best.॥ 9॥

योगी युञ्जीत सततमात्मानं रहसि स्थितः ।

एकाकी यतचित्तात्मा निराशीरपरिग्रहः ॥

yōgī yuñjīta satatamātmānaṅ rahasi sthitaḥ.

ēkākī yatacittātmā nirāśīraparigrahaḥ৷৷6.10৷৷

Meaning: The Yogi who controls the body including the mind and the senses, the Yogi who is without hope and without accumulation, alone, being situated in a lonely place, constantly engages the soul in the Supreme Soul 10॥

आसन विधि, परमात्मा का ध्यान, योगी के चार प्रकार

शुचौ देशे प्रतिष्ठाप्य स्थिरमासनमात्मनः ।

नात्युच्छ्रितं नातिनीचं चैलाजिनकुशोत्तरम्‌ ॥

śucau dēśē pratiṣṭhāpya sthiramāsanamātmanaḥ.

nātyucchritaṅ nātinīcaṅ cailājinakuśōttaram৷৷6.11৷৷

Meaning: On the pure land, on which kusha, deerskin and cloth are spread respectively, which is neither very high nor very low, by establishing one’s seat like this ॥11॥

तत्रैकाग्रं मनः कृत्वा यतचित्तेन्द्रियक्रियः ।

उपविश्यासने युञ्ज्याद्योगमात्मविशुद्धये ॥

tatraikāgraṅ manaḥ kṛtvā yatacittēndriyakriyaḥ.

upaviśyāsanē yuñjyādyōgamātmaviśuddhayē৷৷6.12৷৷

Meaning: Sitting on that seat, controlling the actions of the mind and senses, concentrate the mind and practice yoga for the purification of the inner self.12॥

समं कायशिरोग्रीवं धारयन्नचलं स्थिरः ।

सम्प्रेक्ष्य नासिकाग्रं स्वं दिशश्चानवलोकयन्‌ ॥

samaṅ kāyaśirōgrīvaṅ dhārayannacalaṅ sthiraḥ.

saṅprēkṣya nāsikāgraṅ svaṅ diśaścānavalōkayan৷৷6.13৷৷

Meaning: Keeping the body, head and neck equal and immovable and being stable, looking at the front of your nasika, not looking at other directions ॥13॥

प्रशान्तात्मा विगतभीर्ब्रह्मचारिव्रते स्थितः ।

मनः संयम्य मच्चित्तो युक्त आसीत मत्परः ॥

praśāntātmā vigatabhīrbrahmacārivratē sthitaḥ.

manaḥ saṅyamya maccittō yukta āsīta matparaḥ৷৷6.14৷৷

Meaning: A careful yogi, free from fear and having a well-peaceful mind, fixed in the vow of celibacy, should keep his mind fixed on Me and be devoted to Me ॥14॥

युञ्जन्नेवं सदात्मानं योगी नियतमानसः ।

शान्तिं निर्वाणपरमां मत्संस्थामधिगच्छति ॥

yuñjannēvaṅ sadā৷৷tmānaṅ yōgī niyatamānasaḥ.

śāntiṅ nirvāṇaparamāṅ matsaṅsthāmadhigacchati৷৷6.15৷৷

Meaning: A yogi with a mind under control, thus constantly attaching the soul to me in the form of the Supreme Lord, attains the supreme peace of bliss that resides in me ॥15॥

नात्यश्नतस्तु योगोऽस्ति न चैकान्तमनश्नतः ।

न चाति स्वप्नशीलस्य जाग्रतो नैव चार्जुन ॥

nātyaśnatastu yōgō.sti na caikāntamanaśnataḥ.

na cātisvapnaśīlasya jāgratō naiva cārjuna৷৷6.16৷৷

Meaning: Hey Arjun! This yoga is neither successful for one who eats a lot, nor for one who does not eat at all, nor for one who tends to sleep a lot, nor for one who is always awake ॥16॥

युक्ताहारविहारस्य युक्तचेष्टस्य कर्मसु ।

युक्तस्वप्नावबोधस्य योगो भवति दुःखहा ॥

yuktāhāravihārasya yuktacēṣṭasya karmasu.

yuktasvapnāvabōdhasya yōgō bhavati duḥkhahā৷৷6.17৷৷

Meaning: The yoga that destroys sorrows is proved by the one who eats properly, the one who makes proper effort in his actions and the one who sleeps and wakes up properly ॥17॥

यदा विनियतं चित्तमात्मन्येवावतिष्ठते ।

निःस्पृहः सर्वकामेभ्यो युक्त इत्युच्यते तदा ॥

yadā viniyataṅ cittamātmanyēvāvatiṣṭhatē.

niḥspṛhaḥ sarvakāmēbhyō yukta ityucyatē tadā৷৷6.18৷৷

Meaning: In the period when the mind, which is under extreme control, becomes well situated in the Supreme Soul, it is said that in that period, a man who is devoid of desire for all pleasures is yogic ॥18॥

यथा दीपो निवातस्थो नेंगते सोपमा स्मृता ।

योगिनो यतचित्तस्य युञ्जतो योगमात्मनः ॥

yathā dīpō nivātasthō nēṅgatē sōpamā smṛtā.

yōginō yatacittasya yuñjatō yōgamātmanaḥ৷৷6.19৷৷

Meaning: Just as a lamp located in a windless place does not work, the same analogy has been given to the living mind of a yogi engaged in the meditation of God ॥19॥

यत्रोपरमते चित्तं निरुद्धं योगसेवया ।

यत्र चैवात्मनात्मानं पश्यन्नात्मनि तुष्यति ॥

yatrōparamatē cittaṅ niruddhaṅ yōgasēvayā.

yatra caivātmanā৷৷tmānaṅ paśyannātmani tuṣyati৷৷6.20৷৷

Meaning: The state in which the restrained mind by the practice of yoga becomes elevated and the state in which the Sachchidanandaghan remains satisfied in the Supreme Soul by realizing the Supreme Soul through the subtle intellect purified by the meditation of the Supreme Soul ॥20॥

सुखमात्यन्तिकं यत्तद्‍बुद्धिग्राह्यमतीन्द्रियम्‌ ।

वेत्ति यत्र न चैवायं स्थितश्चलति तत्त्वतः ॥

sukhamātyantikaṅ yattadbuddhigrāhyamatīndriyam.

vētti yatra na caivāyaṅ sthitaścalati tattvataḥ৷৷6.21৷৷

Meaning: The state in which one experiences the eternal bliss which is beyond the senses, which can be grasped only by the purified subtle intellect, and in which state the Yogi does not get distracted from the form of the Supreme Soul ॥21॥

यं लब्ध्वा चापरं लाभं मन्यते नाधिकं ततः ।

यस्मिन्स्थितो न दुःखेन गुरुणापि विचाल्यते ॥

yaṅ labdhvā cāparaṅ lābhaṅ manyatē nādhikaṅ tataḥ.

yasminsthitō na duḥkhēna guruṇāpi vicālyatē৷৷6.22৷৷

Meaning: The gain which is attained in the form of God’s attainment, does not consider anything else as a greater benefit and the yogi who is in the form of God’s attainment does not move even in the face of great sorrow ॥22॥

तं विद्याद् दुःखसंयोगवियोगं योगसञ्ज्ञितम्।

स निश्चयेन योक्तव्यो योगोऽनिर्विण्णचेतसा ॥

taṅ vidyād duḥkhasaṅyōgaviyōgaṅ yōgasaṅjñitam.

sa niścayēna yōktavyō yōgō.nirviṇṇacētasā৷৷6.23৷৷

Meaning: The one who is free from the sorrows of the world and whose name is Yoga, he should be known. It is the duty to do that yoga with determination without getting tired, that is, with patience and enthusiasm ॥23॥

सङ्‍कल्पप्रभवान्कामांस्त्यक्त्वा सर्वानशेषतः ।

मनसैवेन्द्रियग्रामं विनियम्य समन्ततः ॥

saṅkalpaprabhavānkāmāṅstyaktvā sarvānaśēṣataḥ.

manasaivēndriyagrāmaṅ viniyamya samantataḥ৷৷6.24৷৷

Meaning: By giving up completely all the desires arising out of the will and restraining the association of the senses by the mind from all sides ॥24॥

शनैः शनैरुपरमेद्‍बुद्धया धृतिगृहीतया।

आत्मसंस्थं मनः कृत्वा न किंचिदपि चिन्तयेत्‌ ॥

śanaiḥ śanairuparamēd buddhyā dhṛtigṛhītayā.

ātmasaṅsthaṅ manaḥ kṛtvā na kiñcidapi cintayēt৷৷6.25৷৷

Meaning: By practicing step by step, one attains the above and by keeping the mind fixed in the Supreme Soul with a patient intellect, one should not think of anything other than the Supreme Soul ॥25॥

यतो यतो निश्चरति मनश्चञ्चलमस्थिरम्‌ ।

ततस्ततो नियम्यैतदात्मन्येव वशं नयेत्‌ ॥

yatō yatō niścarati manaścañcalamasthiram.

tatastatō niyamyaitadātmanyēva vaśaṅ nayēt৷৷6.26৷৷

Meaning: This unsteady and fickle mind, for the sake of which words it wanders in the world, by stopping it means removing it from that subject, restrain it again and again in God ॥26॥

प्रशान्तमनसं ह्येनं योगिनं सुखमुत्तमम्‌ ।

उपैति शांतरजसं ब्रह्मभूतमकल्मषम्‌ ॥

praśāntamanasaṅ hyēnaṅ yōginaṅ sukhamuttamam.

upaiti śāntarajasaṅ brahmabhūtamakalmaṣam৷৷6.27৷৷

Meaning : Because the yogi whose mind is well calm, who is free from sin and whose passion is calm, such a yogi who is united with this Sachchidanandaghan Brahma, attains the best bliss ॥27॥

युञ्जन्नेवं सदात्मानं योगी विगतकल्मषः ।

सुखेन ब्रह्मसंस्पर्शमत्यन्तं सुखमश्नुते ॥

yuñjannēvaṅ sadā৷৷tmānaṅ yōgī vigatakalmaṣaḥ.

sukhēna brahmasaṅsparśamatyantaṅ sukhamaśnutē৷৷6.28৷৷

Meaning: That sinless yogi thus continuously engaging the soul in the Supreme Soul, happily experiences eternal bliss in the form of the attainment of the Supreme Soul ॥28॥

सर्वभूतस्थमात्मानं सर्वभूतानि चात्मनि ।

ईक्षते योगयुक्तात्मा सर्वत्र समदर्शनः ॥

sarvabhūtasthamātmānaṅ sarvabhūtāni cātmani.

īkṣatē yōgayuktātmā sarvatra samadarśanaḥ৷৷6.29৷৷

Meaning: The yogi who is united in oneness with the all-pervading infinite consciousness and who sees everyone with equality sees the soul in all beings and sees all beings as imagined in the soul ॥29॥

यो मां पश्यति सर्वत्र सर्वं च मयि पश्यति ।

तस्याहं न प्रणश्यामि स च मे न प्रणश्यति ॥

yō māṅ paśyati sarvatra sarvaṅ ca mayi paśyati.

tasyāhaṅ na praṇaśyāmi sa ca mē na praṇaśyati৷৷6.30৷৷

Meaning: The person who sees me Vasudev as the self of all in all the ghosts and sees all the ghosts under me Vasudev (see Gita Adhyay 9 Shlok 6.), for him I do not become invisible and he is not invisible for me. Would have been ॥30॥

सर्वभूतस्थितं यो मां भजत्येकत्वमास्थितः ।

सर्वथा वर्तमानोऽपि स योगी मयि वर्तते ॥

sarvabhūtasthitaṅ yō māṅ bhajatyēkatvamāsthitaḥ.

sarvathā vartamānō.pi sa yōgī mayi vartatē৷৷6.31৷৷

Meaning: The man who worships Me, Sachchidanandaghan Vasudev, who is situated in the form of self in all the ghosts, being in oneness, that Yogi, while behaving in all ways, behaves only in Me ॥31॥

आत्मौपम्येन सर्वत्र समं पश्यति योऽर्जुन ।

सुखं वा यदि वा दुःखं स योगी परमो मतः ॥

ātmaupamyēna sarvatra samaṅ paśyati yō.rjuna.

sukhaṅ vā yadi vā duḥkhaṅ saḥ yōgī paramō mataḥ৷৷6.32৷৷

Meaning: Hey Arjun! The Yogi who, while behaving like a Brahmin, Kshatriya, Shudra and Mlechhadik with his head, hands, feet and anus, sees happiness and sorrow in the same way, having the same sense of belongingness in them, similarly all To see in ghosts is to see them as equal.) One who sees equal in all ghosts and sees happiness or sorrow equally in all, that Yogi is considered to be the supreme one ॥32॥

 मन के निग्रह का विषय

अर्जुन उवाच

योऽयं योगस्त्वया प्रोक्तः साम्येन मधुसूदन ।

एतस्याहं न पश्यामि चञ्चलत्वात्स्थितिं स्थिराम्‌ ॥

arjuna uvāca

yō.yaṅ yōgastvayā prōktaḥ sāmyēna madhusūdana.

ētasyāhaṅ na paśyāmi cañcalatvāt sthitiṅ sthirām৷৷6.33৷৷

Meaning: Arjun said – O Madhusudan! This yoga that you have said with equanimity, due to the fickleness of the mind, I do not see its eternal state ॥33॥

चञ्चलं हि मनः कृष्ण प्रमाथि बलवद्दृढम्‌ ।

तस्याहं निग्रहं मन्ये वायोरिव सुदुष्करम्‌ ॥

cañcalaṅ hi manaḥ kṛṣṇa pramāthi balavaddṛḍham.

tasyāhaṅ nigrahaṅ manyē vāyōriva suduṣkaram৷৷6.34৷৷

Meaning: Because O Shri Krishna! This mind is very restless, restless, very firm and strong. That’s why I consider it very difficult to control him like controlling the wind.॥34॥

श्रीभगवानुवाच

असंशयं महाबाहो मनो दुर्निग्रहं चलम्‌ ।

अभ्यासेन तु कौन्तेय वैराग्येण च गृह्यते ॥

śrī bhagavānuvāca

asaṅśayaṅ mahābāhō manō durnigrahaṅ calaṅ.

abhyāsēna tu kauntēya vairāgyēṇa ca gṛhyatē৷৷6.35৷৷

Meaning: Shri Bhagwan said – O mighty-armed! No doubt the mind is fickle and difficult to control. But Arjun, son of Kunti! This practice (its detail should be seen in the commentary on Gita Adhyay 12 Shlok 9.) and is controlled by disinterest ॥35॥

असंयतात्मना योगो दुष्प्राप इति मे मतिः ।

वश्यात्मना तु यतता शक्योऽवाप्तुमुपायतः ॥

asaṅyatātmanā yōgō duṣprāpa iti mē matiḥ.

vaśyātmanā tu yatatā śakyō.vāptumupāyataḥ৷৷6.36৷৷

Meaning: Yoga is difficult to attain by a man whose mind is not controlled, and it is easy to be attained through means by a striving man with a controlled mind – this is my opinion ॥36॥

 योगभ्रष्ट पुरुष की गति का विषय और ध्यानयोगी की महिमा

अर्जुन उवाच

अयतिः श्रद्धयोपेतो योगाच्चलितमानसः ।

अप्राप्य योगसंसिद्धिं कां गतिं कृष्ण गच्छति ॥

arjuna uvāca

ayatiḥ śraddhayōpētō yōgāccalitamānasaḥ.

aprāpya yōgasaṅsiddhiṅ kāṅ gatiṅ kṛṣṇa gacchati৷৷6.37৷৷

Meaning: Arjun said – O Shri Krishna! One who has faith in yoga, but is not restrained, because of which his mind has deviated from yoga in the last time, how does such a seeker achieve the achievement of yoga, that is, the realization of God, without attaining it ॥37॥

कच्चिन्नोभयविभ्रष्टश्छिन्नाभ्रमिव नश्यति ।

अप्रतिष्ठो महाबाहो विमूढो ब्रह्मणः पथि ॥

kaccinnōbhayavibhraṣṭaśchinnābhramiva naśyati.

apratiṣṭhō mahābāhō vimūḍhō brahmaṇaḥ pathi৷৷6.38৷৷

Meaning: O mighty-armed! Does that deluded and shelterless man in the path of God-realization not get destroyed like a cloud that breaks apart, getting corrupted from both sides?॥38॥

एतन्मे संशयं कृष्ण छेत्तुमर्हस्यशेषतः ।

त्वदन्यः संशयस्यास्य छेत्ता न ह्युपपद्यते ॥

ētanmē saṅśayaṅ kṛṣṇa chēttumarhasyaśēṣataḥ.

tvadanyaḥ saṅśayasyāsya chēttā na hyupapadyatē৷৷6.39৷৷

Meaning: O Shri Krishna! You are the only one capable of dispelling this doubt of mine completely, because it is not possible to find anyone other than you who can dispel this doubt ॥39॥

श्रीभगवानुवाच

पार्थ नैवेह नामुत्र विनाशस्तस्य विद्यते ।

न हि कल्याणकृत्कश्चिद्दुर्गतिं तात गच्छति ॥

śrī bhagavānuvāca

pārtha naivēha nāmutra vināśastasya vidyatē.

nahi kalyāṇakṛtkaśicaddurgatiṅ tāta gacchati৷৷6.40৷৷

Meaning: Shri Bhagwan said – O Parth! That man is neither destroyed in this world nor in the hereafter because O dear! No human being who works for self-realization, that is, for God-realisation, gets miseries ॥40॥

प्राप्य पुण्यकृतां लोकानुषित्वा शाश्वतीः समाः ।

शुचीनां श्रीमतां गेहे योगभ्रष्टोऽभिजायते ॥

prāpya puṇyakṛtāṅ lōkānuṣitvā śāśvatīḥ samāḥ.

śucīnāṅ śrīmatāṅ gēhē yōgabhraṣṭō.bhijāyatē৷৷6.41৷৷

Meaning: A man who is corrupt in yoga attains the worlds of the virtuous, i.e. heaven and the best worlds, resides in them for many years and then takes birth in the house of virtuous men ॥41॥

अथवा योगिनामेव कुले भवति धीमताम्‌ ।

एतद्धि दुर्लभतरं लोके जन्म यदीदृशम्‌ ॥

athavā yōgināmēva kulē bhavati dhīmatām.

ētaddhi durlabhataraṅ lōkē janma yadīdṛśam৷৷6.42৷৷

Meaning: Or a person who has disinterest does not go to those worlds and is born in the family of knowledgeable yogis, but this type of birth is no doubt very rare in the world ॥42॥

तत्र तं बुद्धिसंयोगं लभते पौर्वदेहिकम्‌ ।

यतते च ततो भूयः संसिद्धौ कुरुनन्दन ॥

tatra taṅ buddhisaṅyōgaṅ labhatē paurvadēhikam.

yatatē ca tatō bhūyaḥ saṅsiddhau kurunandana৷৷6.43৷৷

Meaning: There, in that first body, the combination of intellect, that is, the sanskars of yoga in the form of equal intellect, are attained spontaneously and O Kurunandan! Due to its influence, he again tries more than before for the attainment of God.॥43॥

पूर्वाभ्यासेन तेनैव ह्रियते ह्यवशोऽपि सः ।

जिज्ञासुरपि योगस्य शब्दब्रह्मातिवर्तते ॥

pūrvābhyāsēna tēnaiva hriyatē hyavaśō.pi saḥ.

jijñāsurapi yōgasya śabdabrahmātivartatē৷৷6.44৷৷

Meaning: He (here by the word ‘he’ should be understood as a person born in the house of gentlemen who is corrupt in yoga.) A person born in the house of gentlemen who is corrupt in yoga, even though he is dependent, is undoubtedly attracted to God because of that earlier practice and is of equal intellect. Even the aspirant of Roop Yoga violates the fruits of fruitive actions as said in the Vedas ॥44॥

प्रयत्नाद्यतमानस्तु योगी संशुद्धकिल्बिषः ।

अनेकजन्मसंसिद्धस्ततो यात परां गतिम्‌ ॥

prayatnādyatamānastu yōgī saṅśuddhakilbiṣaḥ.

anēkajanmasaṅsiddhastatō yāti parāṅ gatim৷৷6.45৷৷

Meaning: But a yogi who practices diligently becomes free from all sins in this very birth by the power of the sacraments of many previous births and then immediately attains the supreme state.॥45॥

तपस्विभ्योऽधिको योगी ज्ञानिभ्योऽपि मतोऽधिकः ।

कर्मिभ्यश्चाधिको योगी तस्माद्योगी भवार्जुन ॥

tapasvibhyō.dhikō yōgī jñānibhyō.pi matō.dhikaḥ.

karmibhyaścādhikō yōgī tasmādyōgī bhavārjuna৷৷6.46৷৷

Meaning: Yogi is superior to ascetics, is considered superior to scholars of scriptures and Yogi is superior to those who do fruitful work. Because of this O Arjun! You are a yogi ॥46॥

योगिनामपि सर्वेषां मद्गतेनान्तरात्मना ।

श्रद्धावान्भजते यो मां स मे युक्ततमो मतः ॥

yōgināmapi sarvēṣāṅ madgatēnāntarātmanā.

śraddhāvānbhajatē yō māṅ sa mē yuktatamō mataḥ৷৷6.47৷৷

Meaning: Among all the yogis, the yogi who is devoted to me and constantly worships me with his inner soul engaged in me, that yogi is considered by me to be the most elevated ॥47॥

ॐ तत्सदिति श्रीमद्भगवद्गीतासूपनिषत्सु ब्रह्मविद्यायां योगशास्त्रे 

श्रीकृष्णार्जुनसंवादे आत्मसंयमयोगो नाम षष्ठोऽध्यायः ॥6॥
