The famous and sacred temples of the Goddess Sati include 52 Shaktipeeths. Although 51 Shaktipeeths are considered, 52 Shaktipeeths have been mentioned in Tantra Chudamani. There is a particular reason behind the existence of these Shaktipeeths.
According to Purans, Goddess Sati, the first wife of Lord Shiva, married Bholenath without the consent of her father, King Daksha. On this, once King Daksha organized a huge yagya but did not invite his daughter and son-in-law to the Yagya. Mata Sati reached the Yagya without her father’s invitation, while Bholenath forbade her to go there.
King Daksha abused and insulted her husband Lord Shiva in front of Mata Sati. Mata Sati could not tolerate the insult of her husband from the mouth of the father and she gave up her life by jumping into the sacred fire pit of Yagya. Bholenath could not bear the separation from his wife. Taking the dead body of Mata Sati, Shiva started doing Tandav.
Holocaust started coming into the universe, on which Lord Vishnu cut the body of Mata Sati into pieces with Sudarshan Chakra to stop it. Mata Sati’s body parts and ornaments fell in 52 pieces at different places on the earth, which became Shaktipeeths. 52 Shakti Peeth in India List | Mata Sati’s Shaktipeeth
1. Manikarnika Ghat, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh – Manikarnika of Mata Sati had fallen here. Here Mata Sati’s Vishalakshi and Manikarni forms are worshipped.
2. Mata Lalita Devi Shaktipeeth, Prayagraj – The finger of Mata Sati had fallen at this place located in Allahabad. Here the Mata Sati is known as Lalita.
3. Mata Sati’s right breast had fallen in Ramgiri, Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh. At this place, she is worshipped in the form of Mata Shivani.
4. Uma Shaktipeeth is located in Vrindavan. It is also known as Katyayani Shaktipeeth. A bunch of Mata Sati’s hair and bangles had fallen here.
5. Mata Sati’s left shoulder had fallen in Devi Patan Temple, Balrampur. Mata Sati is sitting in the form of Mateshwari in this Shaktipeeth.
6. Harsiddhi Devi Shaktipeeth – There are two Shaktipeeths of the Goddess in Madhya Pradesh. One of these is the Harsiddhi Devi Shaktipeeth, where the elbow of Mata Sati fell. It is situated on the western bank of Rudra Sagar Lake.
7. Shondev Narmata Shaktipeeth – In Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, Mata Sati’s mercy buttock had fallen. Due to the origin of the river Narmada here, the Mata Sati is worshipped here in the form of gentleness.
8. Naina Devi Temple – The eye of Goddess Sati had fallen on Shivalik mountain in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. Here Mata Sati Goddess is called Mahish Mardini.
9. Jwala ji Shaktipeeth – Devi’s tongue fell in Kangra, Himachal, hence it was named Siddhida or Ambika.
10. Tripuramalini Mata Shaktipeeth – Mata’s left leg had fallen near Cantonment station in Jalandhar, Punjab.

39. Maa Bhadrakali Devikup Temple – The right ankle of the Mata Sati had fallen in Kurukshetra, Haryana. Here the form of Maa Bhadrakali is worshipped.
40. Chattal Bhavani Shaktipeeth – There is Chattal Bhavani Shaktipeeth on Chandranath mountain in the Chittagong district of Bangladesh. The right arm of Mata Sati had fallen here.
41. Sugandha Shaktipeeth – Mata Sati’s nose had fallen 20 km away from Shikarpur in Bangladesh. In this Shaktipeeth, the Mata Sati is called Sugandha. Another name for this Shaktipeeth is Ugratara Shaktipeeth.

44. Yashoreshwari Mata Shaktipeeth – There is a place named Yashore in the Khulna district of Bangladesh, where the left palm of Maa Sati fell.
45. Indrakshi Shaktipeeth – The anklet of the goddess fell in Jaffna Nallur, Sri Lanka. This Shaktipeeth is called Indrakshi.
46. Guheshwari Shaktipeeth – This Shaktipeeth is on the banks of the Bagmati river at some distance from the Pashupatinath temple in Nepal. Here both the knees of Mata Sati had fallen. Here the Mahamaya or Mahashira form of Shakti is worshipped.
47. Adya Shaktipeeth- There is Adya Shaktipeeth near Gandak river in Nepal. It is believed that the left cheek of Mata Sati had fallen at this place. Here the Gandaki Chandi form of Mata is worshipped.
48. Dantkali Shaktipeeth – The teeth of Mata Sati had fallen in Bijayapur village of Nepal. For this reason, this Shaktipeeth is known as Dantkali Shaktipeeth.
50. Mansa Shaktipeeth – The right palm of Mata Sati had fallen near the Mansarovar river in Tibet. Here she is called Mata Dakshayani. Mata Sati is established here in the form of a rock.
