 अथ सप्तमोऽध्यायः- ज्ञानविज्ञानयोग

 

विज्ञान सहित ज्ञान का विषय,इश्वर की व्यापकता

श्रीभगवानुवाच

मय्यासक्तमनाः पार्थ योगं युञ्जन्मदाश्रयः ।

असंशयं समग्रं मां यथा ज्ञास्यसि तच्छृणु ॥

śrī bhagavānuvāca

mayyāsaktamanāḥ pārtha yōgaṅ yuñjanmadāśrayaḥ.

asaṅśayaṅ samagraṅ māṅ yathā jñāsyasi tacchṛṇu৷৷7.1৷৷

Meaning: Shri Bhagwan said – O Parth! Listen to the way in which you will know Me as the self of all without any doubts, with complete Vibhuti, strength, opulence etc. qualities, engaged in yoga, with your heart attached to Me with exclusive love and devoted to Me with exclusive feelings ॥1॥

ज्ञानं तेऽहं सविज्ञानमिदं वक्ष्याम्यशेषतः ।

यज्ज्ञात्वा नेह भूयोऽन्यज्ज्ञातव्यमवशिष्यते ॥

jñānaṅ tē.haṅ savijñānamidaṅ vakṣyāmyaśēṣataḥ.

yajjñātvā nēha bhūyō.nyajjñātavyamavaśiṣyatē৷৷7.2৷৷

Meaning: I will tell you this science including elemental knowledge completely, knowing which nothing else remains to be known in the world ॥2॥

मनुष्याणां सहस्रेषु कश्चिद्यतति सिद्धये ।

यततामपि सिद्धानां कश्चिन्मां वेत्ति तत्वतः ॥

manuṣyāṇāṅ sahasrēṣu kaśicadyatati siddhayē.

yatatāmapi siddhānāṅ kaśicanmāṅ vētti tattvataḥ৷৷7.3৷৷

Meaning: Out of thousands of human beings, one strives to attain Me, and among those Yogis who strive, one becomes devoted to Me and knows Me in essence, that is, in reality ॥3॥

भूमिरापोऽनलो वायुः खं मनो बुद्धिरेव च ।

अहङ्‍कार इतीयं मे भिन्ना प्रकृतिरष्टधा ॥

अपरेयमितस्त्वन्यां प्रकृतिं विद्धि मे पराम्‌ ।

जीवभूतां महाबाहो ययेदं धार्यते जगत्‌ ॥

bhūmirāpō.nalō vāyuḥ khaṅ manō buddhirēva ca.

ahaṅkāra itīyaṅ mē bhinnā prakṛtiraṣṭadhā৷৷7.4৷৷

aparēyamitastvanyāṅ prakṛtiṅ viddhi mē parām.

jīvabhūtāṅ mahābāhō yayēdaṅ dhāryatē jagat৷৷7.5৷৷

Meaning: Earth, water, fire, air, sky, mind, intelligence and ego too – this is my nature divided in eight ways. This is my inert nature with eight types of distinctions, and O mighty-armed! Other than this, by whom this whole world is sustained, my Jivarupa Para i.e. conscious nature knows ॥4-5॥

एतद्योनीनि भूतानि सर्वाणीत्युपधारय ।

अहं कृत्स्नस्य जगतः प्रभवः प्रलयस्तथा ॥

ētadyōnīni bhūtāni sarvāṇītyupadhāraya.

ahaṅ kṛtsnasya jagataḥ prabhavaḥ pralayastathā৷৷7.6৷৷

Meaning: Hey Arjun! You understand that all the ghosts are going to be born from these two natures and I am the effect and destruction of the whole world, that is, I am the root cause of the whole world.॥6॥

मत्तः परतरं नान्यत्किञ्चिदस्ति धनञ्जय ।

मयि सर्वमिदं प्रोतं सूत्रे मणिगणा इव ॥

mattaḥ parataraṅ nānyatkiñcidasti dhanañjaya.

mayi sarvamidaṅ prōtaṅ sūtrē maṇigaṇā iva৷৷7.7৷৷

Meaning: Hey Dhananjay! There is no other ultimate cause other than me. This whole world is entwined in me like the beads of a thread ॥7॥

श्रीभगवानुवाच

रसोऽहमप्सु कौन्तेय प्रभास्मि शशिसूर्ययोः ।

प्रणवः सर्ववेदेषु शब्दः खे पौरुषं नृषु ॥

rasō.hamapsu kauntēya prabhāsmi śaśisūryayōḥ.

praṇavaḥ sarvavēdēṣu śabdaḥ khē pauruṣaṅ nṛṣu৷৷7.8৷৷

Meaning: Hey Arjun! I am juice in water, light in the moon and sun, Omkar in all the Vedas, sound in the sky and masculinity in men.॥8॥

पुण्यो गन्धः पृथिव्यां च तेजश्चास्मि विभावसौ ।

जीवनं सर्वभूतेषु तपश्चास्मि तपस्विषु ॥

puṇyō gandhaḥ pṛthivyāṅ ca tējaścāsmi vibhāvasau.

jīvanaṅ sarvabhūtēṣu tapaścāsmi tapasviṣu৷৷7.9৷৷

Meaning: I am sacred in the earth (the word sacred has been added to it to make it clear that in this context the form and tanmatras are eclipsed by words, touch, form, taste, smell.) I am strong in smell and fire. And I am his life in all the ghosts and penance in ascetics ॥9॥

बीजं मां सर्वभूतानां विद्धि पार्थ सनातनम्‌ ।

बुद्धिर्बुद्धिमतामस्मि तेजस्तेजस्विनामहम्‌ ॥

bījaṅ māṅ sarvabhūtānāṅ viddhi pārtha sanātanam.

buddhirbuddhimatāmasmi tējastējasvināmaham৷৷7.10৷৷

Meaning: Hey Arjun! Know me to be the eternal seed of all the ghosts. I am the intelligence of the intelligent and the brightness of the brilliant ॥10॥

बलं बलवतां चाहं कामरागविवर्जितम्‌ ।

धर्माविरुद्धो भूतेषु कामोऽस्मि भरतर्षभ ॥

balaṅ balavatāmasmi kāmarāgavivarjitam.

dharmāviruddhō bhūtēṣu kāmō.smi bharatarṣabha৷৷7.11৷৷

Meaning: Oh Bharat Shrestha! I am the power of the strong, free from attachment and desires, and I am the work in accordance with religion, that is, in accordance with the scriptures in all ghosts ॥11॥

ये चैव सात्त्विका भावा राजसास्तामसाश्चये ।

मत्त एवेति तान्विद्धि न त्वहं तेषु ते मयि ॥

yē caiva sāttvikā bhāvā rājasāstāmasāśca yē.

matta ēvēti tānviddhi natvahaṅ tēṣu tē mayi৷৷7.12৷৷

Meaning: You should know all the feelings that arise from sattva guna and those that are caused by rajo guna as ‘they are going to happen only from me’, but in reality (see Gita A. 9 Shlok 4-5) I am in them and they are not in me ॥12॥

आसुरी स्वभाव वालों की निंदा और भगवद्भक्तों की प्रशंसा

त्रिभिर्गुणमयैर्भावैरेभिः सर्वमिदं जगत्‌ ।

मोहितं नाभिजानाति मामेभ्यः परमव्ययम्‌ ॥

tribhirguṇamayairbhāvairēbhiḥ sarvamidaṅ jagat.

mōhitaṅ nābhijānāti māmēbhyaḥ paramavyayam৷৷7.13৷৷

Meaning: The whole world-living community is being fascinated by these three types of emotions, Satvik, Rajas and Tamas, the working forms of gunas, that’s why it does not know me the imperishable beyond these three gunas ॥13॥

दैवी ह्येषा गुणमयी मम माया दुरत्यया ।

मामेव ये प्रपद्यन्ते मायामेतां तरन्ति ते ॥

daivī hyēṣā guṇamayī mama māyā duratyayā.

māmēva yē prapadyantē māyāmētāṅ taranti tē৷৷7.14৷৷

Meaning: Because this supernatural i.e. very wonderful Trigunmayi My illusion is a great enemy, but those men who worship only Me continuously, they violate this illusion i.e. they get away from the world ॥14॥

न मां दुष्कृतिनो मूढाः प्रपद्यन्ते नराधमाः ।

माययापहृतज्ञाना आसुरं भावमाश्रिताः ॥

na māṅ duṣkṛtinō mūḍhāḥ prapadyantē narādhamāḥ.

māyayāpahṛtajñānā āsuraṅ bhāvamāśritāḥ৷৷7.15৷৷

Meaning: I am not worshiped by fools who have lost their knowledge due to Maya, having the nature of a demonic nature, who perform impure actions among humans ॥15॥

चतुर्विधा भजन्ते मां जनाः सुकृतिनोऽर्जुन ।

आर्तो जिज्ञासुरर्थार्थी ज्ञानी च भरतर्षभ ॥

caturvidhā bhajantē māṅ janāḥ sukṛtinō.rjuna.

ārtō jijñāsurarthārthī jñānī ca bharatarṣabha৷৷7.16৷৷

Meaning: O Arjuna, the best among the descendants of Bharata! Artharthi (one who worships for worldly things), Artha (one who worships for the removal of trouble), Jigyasu (one who worships with the desire to know Me in reality) and Jnani – such four types of devotees worship me ॥16॥

तेषां ज्ञानी नित्ययुक्त एकभक्तिर्विशिष्यते ।

प्रियो हि ज्ञानिनोऽत्यर्थमहं स च मम प्रियः ॥

tēṣāṅ jñānī nityayukta ēkabhakitarviśiṣyatē.

priyō hi jñāninō.tyarthamahaṅ sa ca mama priyaḥ৷৷7.17৷৷

Meaning: Among them, the learned devotee who is constantly united in me with undivided loving devotion is the best because I am very dear to the wise man who knows me in essence and that wise man is very dear to me. 17॥

उदाराः सर्व एवैते ज्ञानी त्वात्मैव मे मतम्‌ ।

आस्थितः स हि युक्तात्मा मामेवानुत्तमां गतिम्‌ ॥

udārāḥ sarva ēvaitē jñānī tvātmaiva mē matam.

āsthitaḥ sa hi yuktātmā māmēvānuttamāṅ gatim৷৷7.18৷৷

Meaning: All of them are magnanimous, but the wise man is my form in reality – this is my opinion because that wise devotee with an intoxicated mind and intellect is well established in me in the form of the most perfect movement.॥18॥

बहूनां जन्मनामन्ते ज्ञानवान्मां प्रपद्यते ।

वासुदेवः सर्वमिति स महात्मा सुदुर्लभः ॥

bahūnāṅ janmanāmantē jñānavānmāṅ prapadyatē.

vāsudēvaḥ sarvamiti sa mahātmā sudurlabhaḥ৷৷7.19৷৷

Meaning: In the last birth of many births, the man who has attained the knowledge of the elements, everything is Vasudev – who worships me in this way, that great soul is extremely rare ॥19॥

 

अन्य देवताओं की उपासना और उसका फल

कामैस्तैस्तैर्हृतज्ञानाः प्रपद्यन्तेऽन्यदेवताः ।

तं तं नियममास्थाय प्रकृत्या नियताः स्वया ॥

kāmaistaistairhṛtajñānāḥ prapadyantē.nyadēvatāḥ.

taṅ taṅ niyamamāsthāya prakṛtyā niyatāḥ svayā৷৷7.20৷৷

Meaning: Those whose knowledge has been defeated by the desire of those and those enjoyments, being inspired by their nature, follow that rule and worship other gods ॥20॥

यो यो यां यां तनुं भक्तः श्रद्धयार्चितुमिच्छति ।

तस्य तस्याचलां श्रद्धां तामेव विदधाम्यहम्‌ ॥

yō yō yāṅ yāṅ tanuṅ bhaktaḥ śraddhayārcitumicchati.

tasya tasyācalāṅ śraddhāṅ tāmēva vidadhāmyaham৷৷7.21৷৷

Meaning: I fix the devotion of that devotee towards that deity, whose form the devotee wants to worship with devotion ॥21॥

स तया श्रद्धया युक्तस्तस्याराधनमीहते ।

लभते च ततः कामान्मयैव विहितान्हि तान्‌ ॥

sa tayā śraddhayā yuktastasyārādhanamīhatē.

labhatē ca tataḥ kāmānmayaiva vihitān hi tān৷৷7.22৷৷

Meaning: That man worships that deity with that devotion and without any doubt receives those desired enjoyments from that deity which have been ordained by me ॥22॥

अन्तवत्तु फलं तेषां तद्भवत्यल्पमेधसाम्‌ ।

देवान्देवयजो यान्ति मद्भक्ता यान्ति मामपि ॥

antavattu phalaṅ tēṣāṅ tadbhavatyalpamēdhasām.

dēvāndēvayajō yānti madbhaktā yānti māmapi৷৷7.23৷৷

Meaning: But that fruit of those with little intelligence is perishable and they are attained by the deities who worship deities and no matter how my devotees worship, they are ultimately attained by me only ॥23॥

 भगवान के प्रभाव और स्वरूप को न जानने वालों की निंदा और जानने वालों की महिमा

अव्यक्तं व्यक्तिमापन्नं मन्यन्ते मामबुद्धयः ।

परं भावमजानन्तो ममाव्ययमनुत्तमम्‌ ॥

avyaktaṅ vyakitamāpannaṅ manyantē māmabuddhayaḥ.

paraṅ bhāvamajānantō mamāvyayamanuttamam৷৷7.24৷৷

Meaning: Unintelligent men, not knowing my ultimate imperishable supreme spirit, consider me beyond the mind-senses to be born like a human being and attained the personality of a person ॥24॥

नाहं प्रकाशः सर्वस्य योगमायासमावृतः ।

मूढोऽयं नाभिजानाति लोको मामजमव्ययम्‌ ॥

nāhaṅ prakāśaḥ sarvasya yōgamāyāsamāvṛtaḥ.

mūḍhō.yaṅ nābhijānāti lōkō māmajamavyayam৷৷7.25৷৷

Meaning: I am not revealed to everyone who is hidden by my Yogmaya, that is why this ignorant community does not know me as the birthless imperishable God, that is, they consider me to be born and die ॥25॥

वेदाहं समतीतानि वर्तमानानि चार्जुन ।

भविष्याणि च भूतानि मां तु वेद न कश्चन ॥

vēdāhaṅ samatītāni vartamānāni cārjuna.

bhaviṣyāṇi ca bhūtāni māṅ tu vēda na kaścana৷৷7.26৷৷

Meaning: Hey Arjun! I know all the ghosts that have passed in the past and are present and will happen in the future, but no man without faith and devotion knows Me.॥26॥

इच्छाद्वेषसमुत्थेन द्वन्द्वमोहेन भारत ।

सर्वभूतानि सम्मोहं सर्गे यान्ति परन्तप ॥

icchādvēṣasamutthēna dvandvamōhēna bhārata.

sarvabhūtāni saṅmōhaṅ sargē yānti parantapa৷৷7.27৷৷

Meaning: Hey Bharatvanshi Arjun! Due to the duality of happiness and unhappiness arising out of desire and hatred in the world, all the living beings are attaining extreme ignorance ॥27॥

येषां त्वन्तगतं पापं जनानां पुण्यकर्मणाम्‌ ।

ते द्वन्द्वमोहनिर्मुक्ता भजन्ते मां दृढव्रताः ॥

yēṣāṅ tvantagataṅ pāpaṅ janānāṅ puṇyakarmaṇām.

tē dvandvamōhanirmuktā bhajantē māṅ dṛḍhavratāḥ৷৷7.28৷৷

Meaning: But those men whose sins have been absolved, who perform noble deeds without any desire, those determined devotees who are free from the duality of attachment and hatred, worship me in all ways ॥28॥

जरामरणमोक्षाय मामाश्रित्य यतन्ति ये ।

ते ब्रह्म तद्विदुः कृत्स्नमध्यात्मं कर्म चाखिलम्‌ ॥

jarāmaraṇamōkṣāya māmāśritya yatanti yē.

tē brahma tadviduḥ kṛtsnamadhyātmaṅ karma cākhilam৷৷7.29৷৷

Meaning: Those who take refuge in me and try to get rid of old age and death, those men know that Brahma, the complete spirituality, the complete work ॥29॥

साधिभूताधिदैवं मां साधियज्ञं च ये विदुः ।

प्रयाणकालेऽपि च मां ते विदुर्युक्तचेतसः ॥

sādhibhūtādhidaivaṅ māṅ sādhiyajñaṅ ca yē viduḥ.

prayāṇakālē.pi ca māṅ tē viduryuktacētasaḥ৷৷7.30৷৷

Meaning: Those men who know me along with Adhibhuta and Adhidaiva and Adhiyagya (the self-form of all) even at the end, those men with right mind know me, that is, they are attained ॥30॥

ॐ तत्सदिति श्रीमद्भगवद्गीतासूपनिषत्सु ब्रह्मविद्यायां योगशास्त्रे 

श्रीकृष्णार्जुनसंवादे ज्ञानविज्ञानयोगो नाम सप्तमोऽध्यायः ॥7॥
