10 Life Changing Bhagavad Gita Verses


कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन |

मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि || 2-47 ||

You have a right to perform your prescribed duties but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities nor be attached to inaction.

यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत |

अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम् || 4-7||

O descendant of Bharat, whenever there is a decline in religiosity and an increase in irreligion, I descend in this world.

तद्विद्धि प्रणिपातेन परिप्रश्नेन सेवया |

उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते ज्ञानं ज्ञानिनस्तत्त्वदर्शिन: || 4-34||

Learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him with reverence and render service unto him. Such an enlightened Saint can impart knowledge unto you because he has seen the truth.

चञ्चलं हि मन: कृष्ण प्रमाथि बलवद्दृढम् |

तस्याहं निग्रहं मन्ये वायोरिव सुदुष्करम् || 6-34||

Oh Krishna! The mind is very unsteady turbulent and obstinate. It seems to me that it is more difficult to control than the wind.

श्रीभगवानुवाच |

असंशयं महाबाहो मनो दुर्निग्रहं चलम् |

अभ्यासेन तु कौन्तेय वैराग्येण च गृह्यते || 6-35||

Shri Krishna said: O son of Kunti, the mind is undoubtedly restless and difficult to curb but it can be controlled by repeated practice and attachment.

तस्मात्सर्वेषु कालेषु मामनुस्मर युध्य च |

मय्यर्पितमनोबुद्धिर्मामेवैष्यस्यसंशयम् || 8-7||

Therefore Arjun, always thinks of me and do your duty. With mind and intellect dedicated to me, you will doubtless come to me.

अनन्याश्चिन्तयन्तो मां ये जना: पर्युपासते |

तेषां नित्याभियुक्तानां योगक्षेमं वहाम्यहम् || 9-22||

Those who worship me when their minds are fixed lovingly on me alone, to them I give what they lack and preserve what they have.

पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति |

तदहं भक्त्युपहृतमश्नामि प्रयतात्मन: || 9-26||

If someone offers to me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water; I accept it. 

मन्मना भव मद्भक्तो मद्याजी मां नमस्कुरु |

मामेवैष्यसि सत्यं ते प्रतिजाने प्रियोऽसि मे || 18-65||

Always think of Me, be devoted to me, worship me and offer your homage to me. Doing so, you will come to me. I promise you this because you are very dear to me.
