Meditation is easier than you think. Actually, you can meditate anywhere, anytime, under any circumstances. .By definition, meditation means training the mind to calmly and attentively observe or focus on one’s immediate experience with an open awareness. The word derives from the Latin meditate, meaning “to ponder,” “to study,” or “to think.”

Meditation practices are intended to be calming and relaxing but focusing on the breath, counting breaths or simply giving attention to one’s own body can be enough to reach a meditative state. One who is a “beginner” may find it easier to develop concentration and focus by practising mindfulness of their breath, whereas someone with experience in meditation will find it easier to enter into a meditative state through techniques such as mantras or different breathing exercises.

What is Meditation?

Meditation is a practice in which an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or as an end in itself.

The goal of meditation is to achieve a state of perfect mental peace. It is believed that this state can be achieved by clearing one’s mind of all thoughts and focusing on something that requires little effort, such as breathing.

There are many different types of meditation practices, with many different goals. Some practices involve concentrating on one’s breath or counting breaths; others involve visualization, and still, others involve adopting certain postures.

If I have to describe meditation in one word then it is just “Awareness”.

We say that the essence of meditation is awareness.

Awareness means you know what you are thinking, what you are feeling, and what you are doing.

That is awareness, the knowingness, to know.

Why You Should Meditate

Meditation is an effective way to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It can also help improve your focus, creativity and productivity.

Common Mistakes People Make When Meditating

Many people think meditation is something very difficult, empty your mind, do not think of anything, and concentrate.

That is a misunderstanding of meditation.

Actually, to meditate, you do not have to do anything, like blocking thoughts, creating a special state of mind, or be peaceful and calm. There is no need for that.

Simply “be.”

As long as you are aware of something and maintain that awareness, that is meditation.

Of course, sometimes when we meditate like that, lots of thoughts pop up in our minds, like our to-do lists, “I have to do this. I need to talk to that person. I have this important deadline. Am I wasting time? How do I know if I am doing this right or wrong?”

The first mistake people make when they meditate is not understanding the purpose of meditation. This might seem like a small detail, but it can be really important in determining how you go about your practice.

Another mistake people make when they meditate is expecting too much from themselves too soon. If you’re just starting out with meditation, don’t expect to be able to sit for hours at a time right off the bat! It takes some time for you to really get the hang of meditation and how it can benefit you.

Meditation is a tool, so don’t force it or make it into a chore. It should be something that feels natural and enjoyable to you, otherwise, you might lose interest.

You also shouldn’t feel like it’s just for “you”. If you’re trying to meditate but your friends are talking loudly and distracting you, it might be a good idea to leave the room or even try meditating in another part of your house.

Meditation is a great way to relax and get rid of anxiety, but if you’re constantly worrying about what people might think of you when you leave your room for long periods in silence, then it might be best, for now, to take a break and focus on other things.

Today, please practice this.

When you go out or when you are at your work, just listen. You can listen to any sound. Just listen to sound anywhere, anytime.
